Want to know how to cancel Canva subscription before the next charge hits? You are in the right place. The tricky part is that Canva can be billed in three different ways (directly, through the Apple App Store, or through Google Play), and each one has its own cancel path. Cancel in the wrong place and you keep getting charged.
This guide covers every path as of October 2026: web, iPhone, Android, Canva Teams, and free trials. It also answers the questions people actually worry about, like refunds and whether you will lose your designs. We checked the steps against Canva's Help Center, Apple Support and Google Play Help.
How to cancel Canva subscription in 30 seconds
If you were billed by Canva directly, here is the fast version:
- Log in to the Canva account (or team) that holds the plan.
- Select your profile on the homepage, then Settings.
- Open Billing and select Cancel plan under your plan.
- Select Continue cancellation, pick a reason, then select Cancel subscription.
You will get a confirmation email. Your paid features keep working until the end of the period you already paid for.
Bought it through your phone's app store instead? Skip down to the iPhone or Android steps below, because Canva cannot cancel those for you.

First, work out where you are billed
This one check saves the most frustration. Look at the receipt or bank statement for your last Canva charge:
| Charge came from | Where to cancel |
|---|---|
| Canva (card or PayPal on their site) | Canva account settings, Billing |
| Apple | iPhone or iPad Settings, or your Apple Account subscriptions page |
| Google Play | Google Play subscriptions page |
| Your team owner or employer | The team owner or admin handles it |
Canva's Help Center says the same thing: if the charge came from Google, Apple or PayPal, use that platform's steps instead. Deleting the app does not cancel anything on either store.
Also check for a second account. If you have several Canva accounts or teams, each has separate billing, so make sure you are logged in to the one that actually holds the plan.
Step-by-step: cancel on the web (desktop or browser)
This is the route for most people who signed up on Canva's own website.
Step 1: Log in to the right account or team
Open Canva in your browser and sign in. If you belong to a team, switch to the team that holds the subscription by selecting your profile icon and picking it under Teams.
Step 2: Open Settings, then Billing
Select your profile on the homepage to open the menu, then choose Settings and go to Billing. This page also shows your next renewal date, which is worth noting down.
Step 3: Select Cancel plan
Under your plan, select Cancel plan, then Continue cancellation. Canva may show you alternatives, such as pausing instead.
Step 4: Confirm the cancellation
Choose a reason and select Continue cancellation again. You can optionally tell Canva why you are leaving, then select Cancel subscription.
Check your inbox for the confirmation email. No email? Try again, and confirm the plan shows as cancelled on the Billing page.
Menus move around. If a label is slightly different on your screen, look for the cancel or plan option on the Billing page. The overall path (Settings, Billing, Cancel plan) has been stable.
Optional: pause instead of cancel
If you just need a break, Canva lets you pause a Pro, Teams or Business plan for up to 3 months. You are not charged during the pause, and the plan resumes automatically after an email reminder.
Changed your mind?
After requesting cancellation, you can go back to the Billing page and choose to stay on your plan. This only works while the subscription is still active.
Step-by-step: cancel Canva on iPhone or iPad
If the charge came from Apple, cancel through Apple. This is Apple's official method:
Step 1: Open Settings and tap your name
On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app and tap your name at the top.
Step 2: Tap Subscriptions
You will see your active and expired subscriptions. Tap the Canva one.
Step 3: Tap Cancel Subscription
Scroll down if you need to, then tap Cancel Subscription and confirm. If you do not see a Cancel button, or you see a red expiration message, it is already cancelled.
No Apple device handy? You can also do it on the web from the subscriptions page on account.apple.com. One catch: you cannot cancel a family member's subscription, so ask whoever's Apple Account appears on the receipt.
Step-by-step: cancel Canva on Android
If Google Play bills you, here is Google Play's official process:
Step 1: Open your subscriptions page in Google Play
Open the Google Play app, tap your profile icon, then go to Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
Step 2: Choose Canva
Cannot see it? You may be signed in to a different Google account. Switch accounts in Google Play and check again.
Step 3: Tap Cancel subscription
Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts. Uninstalling the app does not cancel it. After you cancel, you keep access for the period you already paid for, and renewal charges stop.
Step-by-step: cancel a Canva free trial
Trials are where people get caught. Canva plans renew automatically, so cancel before the trial ends to avoid the first charge.
Step 1: Find your trial end date
On Canva-billed trials, check the Billing page in Settings. For trials started through Apple or Google, check the Subscriptions screen in the App Store or Google Play.
Step 2: Cancel before the end date
Use the same path as above for wherever you signed up. Apple's advice is to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, which is a smart buffer for every platform.
Step 3: Watch the early-charge quirk
Canva bills on UTC (GMT) time and charges one day before your billing date, so a charge can show up a day before your trial ends. Canva says no action is needed for that, but it is a good reason not to cancel on the last day.
One reassuring detail: a trial started without payment details ends without a charge. And note that ending a trial early starts your paid plan immediately and you lose the remaining trial days, so do not do that by accident.
One thing we could not confirm from Canva's public help pages is a dedicated "cancel trial" screen, so if your Billing page looks different from the steps above, follow the on-screen cancel option and keep the confirmation email.
Canva Teams: owner vs member
Team plans work differently, and this is where most guides get vague.
- Only the team owner or admin can cancel. If you are a regular member, you cannot cancel the team plan. Ask your owner or admin.
- Members lose paid features at the end of the billing period.
- The admin stays the account owner, and the workspace moves to the free plan. Designs, Brand Kit content and shared folders are kept on Canva Free.
- Cancelling Canva Teams is permanent. Per Canva's Help Center, you cannot resubscribe to Teams afterward, and it suggests Canva Business if you might want a team plan later.
If you are the owner, follow the web steps above while logged in to the team. Also remember that Canva reminds owners three days before each bill to remove people who no longer need access, which can trim your cost without cancelling.
What happens after you cancel
Here is the honest, boring truth: not much, and that is good news.
- Future payments stop.
- You keep paid features until the end of your current billing period.
- Your designs stay available on Canva Free, and your account remains active.
- Your Brand Kit content is kept on Canva Free for Teams workspaces, per Canva.
So, will you lose your designs if you cancel Canva? According to Canva's Help Center, no. What you lose is premium stuff: Pro-only features, premium assets and similar. If a design uses premium elements, check how it exports once Pro ends, since premium elements may be restricted. We cover that in our guide to the Canva watermark.
Also know that cancelling is not the same as deleting your account. Cancel first. Deleting is a separate, permanent step.
Pre-cancel checklist: export your designs first
Even though Canva says your designs stay, a backup takes ten minutes and costs nothing. Before your paid period ends:
- Download your important designs in the formats you actually use (PNG, PDF or SVG for logos). Menu labels change, so look for the Share or Download option inside each design.
- Save transparent logos separately. Our guide on how to make a transparent PNG helps if you need a clean cutout.
- Write down your brand colors and fonts so you can rebuild your brand anywhere. If you want to rebuild it fast, see how to create a brand kit with AI.
- Download your uploads (photos, brand images) that you only have inside the platform.
- Note your renewal date and set a calendar reminder two days earlier.
- Screenshot your confirmation once you cancel.

Canva refund rules
Let's set expectations. Canva's Help Center says that in most cases Canva subscriptions are not refundable under its terms of use, but it reviews every request and sometimes approves one depending on the situation. The Help Center does not publish a fixed refund deadline, so any "14 day guarantee" you read elsewhere is not something Canva states there.
A few practical notes:
- Act fast. If you were charged by mistake, request a refund right away and include the invoice number, the charge date and amount, and the email you signed up with.
- Apple purchases: Apple handles refunds, not Canva. Use Apple's refund request page and cancel separately to stop future charges.
- Google Play purchases: Refund rules depend on what you bought, when and how you paid and where you live. See Google Play's refund policies.
- Processing time: If approved, credit cards take about 5 to 10 business days, PayPal 3 to 5 business days, and other methods up to 20 business days.
Still being charged after cancelling? Check for a cancellation confirmation email, confirm you cancelled with the right platform, and check whether some banks keep recurring payments alive after a card is replaced. You can also contact Canva support with your invoice ID.
Your rights in the US
The FTC's "click-to-cancel" rule was vacated by a federal appeals court in July 2025, and the agency has since restarted its negative option rulemaking process. That does not mean companies have a free pass: the Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act (ROSCA) is still in force, and the FTC continues to enforce it against deceptive subscription practices. If you cannot cancel or were charged without clear consent, you can dispute the charge with your card issuer and report it to the FTC.
Downgrade to free or switch? Your options after cancelling
Once you cancel, you are not stuck. You have three realistic paths:
- Stay on the free plan. Great if you only make simple designs now and then.
- Pause instead. If you will be back within three months, pausing keeps things simple.
- Switch tools. If the reason you are leaving is price, templates that all look alike, or too much time spent hunting through layouts, an alternative might fit better.

Switching: what to use instead
We are biased, so take this as one honest option rather than the answer for everyone.
Krumzi works differently from a template library. You describe the design you want in plain text, the AI builds it from scratch, and the result is fully editable afterward. There is no template library to browse, which is the point: you skip the scrolling.
Here is the fair picture so you can decide quickly:
- Pricing: Krumzi has a 7-day free trial (card required upfront), with billing starting on day 8. You can cancel online at any time. Paid plans are Starter, Pro and Ultra, plus a lifetime deal.
- Free plan: Krumzi's Free plan does not include AI access, so the trial is how you test the AI.
- Teams: Krumzi does not offer real-time team collaboration. If your team lives in shared live editing, that is worth weighing.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I cancel my Canva Pro subscription?
Log in, open Settings from your profile menu, go to Billing, and select Cancel plan. Then continue through the prompts and select Cancel subscription. If you pay through Apple or Google Play, cancel in that store's subscriptions settings instead.
Will I lose my designs if I cancel Canva?
No. Canva's Help Center says all your designs remain accessible on Canva Free, and your account stays active. You lose paid features and premium assets once your billing period ends, so it is still smart to download your key designs first.
Can I get a refund after I cancel Canva?
Canva says subscriptions are not refundable in most cases, but it reviews each request and sometimes approves one. If you were billed through Apple or Google Play, you must request the refund from them, not from Canva. Ask as soon as possible after the charge.
How do I cancel a Canva free trial without being charged?
Cancel before the trial end date, and give yourself a buffer of at least a day because Canva bills on UTC time and can charge a day early. A trial started without payment details ends without a charge. Trials started through Apple or Google must be cancelled in those stores.
Can I pause Canva instead of cancelling?
Yes. Canva lets you pause a Pro, Teams or Business plan for up to 3 months. You are not charged during the pause, and the plan resumes automatically after an email reminder.
