LinkedIn aspect ratios in 2026
LinkedIn uses different ratios for different surfaces. Square 1:1 (1200×1200) for feed posts. 1.91:1 (1200×627) for shared link previews. 4:1 (1584×396) for the personal profile cover. Square again (300×300) for company logo and 400×400 for personal profile picture.
Feed posts on LinkedIn currently lean square. Vertical 4:5 also works and gets some engagement boost similar to Instagram, but 1:1 is the safe default.

These dimensions have been stable on LinkedIn for several years, but the platform occasionally adjusts the company cover ratio. Always verify with a test upload before locking in a final design.

What's the best size for a LinkedIn post image?
1200×1200 (1:1 square). Vertical 4:5 also works for more feed real estate. Avoid horizontal 16:9 since it crops awkwardly.
Why is my LinkedIn cover image cropped?
Probably wrong dimensions. Personal covers are 1584×396 (4:1, ultra-wide). Company covers are 1128×191. Anything else gets stretched or cropped.
Does LinkedIn favor video over image posts?
Currently, native video and document carousels (PDFs uploaded as posts) outperform single images on LinkedIn. The aspect ratios for video are 1:1 and 9:16; PDFs display at whatever ratio you export.
What is an aspect ratio?
Aspect ratio is the relationship between width and height, written as width:height. A 1920×1080 image has a 16:9 aspect ratio because 1920÷120 = 16 and 1080÷120 = 9. The ratio describes the shape of the rectangle, independent of size. A 1280×720 image is also 16:9.
How do I calculate the aspect ratio of an image?
Divide width by height to get the decimal ratio. To get the simplified form, find the greatest common divisor (GCD) of width and height and divide both by it. 1920÷1080 = 1.778, GCD(1920, 1080) = 120, so the ratio is 16:9. The calculator above does this instantly.
Is 1920×1080 a 16:9 aspect ratio?
Yes. 1920÷1080 = 1.778, which equals 16÷9. Full HD video, most monitors, and standard YouTube videos are all 16:9 at 1920×1080.
What aspect ratio is best for Instagram?
Instagram supports four ratios. Square 1:1 at 1080×1080 for feed posts. Portrait 4:5 at 1080×1350 for taller feed posts (recommended for organic reach). Landscape 1.91:1 at 1080×566 for wide posts. Vertical 9:16 at 1080×1920 for Stories and Reels.
