The Krumzi free toolkit

Free TikTok safe zone checker

Drop in your TikTok or its cover and see what the caption, buttons and For You bar hide. Regular posts need 240 px clear at the top and 380 px at the bottom; In-Feed ads need 660 px at the bottom. Download the overlay as a transparent PNG, free and with no signup.

TikTok publishes no numbers for regular posts, so we measured the current For You screen in TikTok's own product images, with a 2-line caption and a music or Footnote row.

The sample is a real story from our Instagram story maker. Switch to Ad and watch its button fall outside the safe area: ads need far more room at the bottom.

TikTok safe zone dimensions (2026)

Every number is on a 1080 × 1920 video. Organic numbers come from TikTok's current For You screen; ad numbers come from TikTok's In-Feed ad template.

Why other sites give different numbers

Meta, TikTok and Google only publish safe zones for ads. Everything else is someone's measurement, and some of it is copied between apps or from an older version of the app. Here's the spread we found on the first page of Google, next to ours.

AppTop, other sitesBottom, other sitesOurs, organic / adWhy they differ
TikTok108 to 240 px250 to 660 pxTop 240 / 240 px
Bottom 380 / 660 px
TikTok only publishes its In-Feed ad template. Guides for regular posts guess, and a longer caption or a music row pushes the bottom up.

How to check your TikTok

  1. 1

Pick the app and post type

Choose TikTok, then Organic post or Ad. Ads keep more space clear at the bottom for the Sponsored label and the button.

  2. 2

    Drop in your TikTok

Use a 1080 × 1920 image, a video or a cover. It plays on the phone under the app's buttons and caption. Nothing is uploaded.

  3. 3

    Move what lands in red

Anything under a red area or outside the dashed outline gets covered. Move it into the safe area, then download the preview or the template.

Use the safe zone template in CapCut, Canva or Premiere Pro

Download the template above. It's a 1080 × 1920 PNG with a transparent background, so it sits on top of your video like a guide.

CapCut

  1. Open your 9:16 project and add the PNG with Overlay.
  2. Stretch it to fill the frame and keep it on the top layer.
  3. Place your text inside the dashed outline, then delete the overlay before you export.

Canva

  1. Upload the PNG and drop it on your 1080 × 1920 design.
  2. Stretch it to the edges and lock it.
  3. Design inside the outline, then delete the template before you download.

Premiere Pro

  1. Import the PNG into your 1080 × 1920 sequence.
  2. Put it on the top video track, across the whole clip.
  3. Keep titles inside the outline, then hide the track before you export.

Common questions

TikTok safe zone questions

What is the TikTok safe zone?

It's the part of a 1080 × 1920 video that TikTok's buttons, caption and top bar never cover. On a regular post, keep text 240 px at the top, 380 px at the bottom and 65 px at each side, widening to 200 px on the right from 780 px down, beside the buttons: a 950 × 1,300 px safe area. TikTok doesn't publish numbers for regular posts, so we measured its current For You screen.

What is the safe zone for TikTok ads?

TikTok's In-Feed ad template keeps 240 px at the top, 660 px at the bottom and 120 px at each side, widening to 300 px on the right from 840 px down, beside the buttons. TikTok says the exact size depends on the ad's caption length and any add-ons, so leave extra room for a long caption.

Does a longer caption change the TikTok safe zone?

Yes. A regular caption shows two lines before more, and a music line, Footnote or link can add a row under it. TikTok's ad templates add about 67 px at the bottom for every extra caption line.

Is the TikTok safe zone the same as Instagram Reels?

Close, not the same. TikTok's buttons start higher, at 780 px instead of 1040 px, and its caption block is taller: keep 380 px clear at the bottom on TikTok and 320 px on Reels. Posting one video to both? Keep text inside both areas. Switch between them in the checker.

What part of my TikTok cover shows on my profile?

Profile tiles show the middle of your cover in a 3:4 shape, so about 240 px is hidden at the top and the bottom. Turn on Profile grid crop in the checker to see it on your own cover.

How do I add a safe zone overlay in CapCut?

Download the TikTok template above. In your 9:16 CapCut project, add it with Overlay, stretch it to fill the frame and keep it on the top layer. Place your text inside the dashed outline, then delete the overlay before you export.

Is this safe zone checker free? Is my video uploaded?

It's free. Check as many images and videos as you like and download the preview or the template with no signup and no watermark. Your file stays in your browser and is never uploaded to Krumzi.
